Trevor has a proven track record as an advisor to public company executives and boards as well as financial sponsors in directing multi-stakeholder communications programs in event-driven, financial and crisis situations. He has extensive special situations experience, having advised companies around mergers, proxy contests, crisis communications and IPOs, as well as experience in developing capital markets and business media relations strategies. His areas of expertise include:
- M&A and Shareholder Activism: He advises clients on the communications challenges involved in both friendly and unsolicited M&A transactions. Shareholder Activist defense assignments focus on the development of communication strategies regarding a wide range of issues frequently raised by activists, including corporate strategy, capital allocation, executive compensation, sale of non-core assets, Board composition and management transition.
- Crisis Communications: He advises companies facing a variety of crisis situations, including data breaches, litigation, restructurings, government investigations, regulatory actions, internal/board investigations, workforce reductions and facility closures, and sudden management changes.
- Financial Sponsors: He advises private equity firms and their portfolio companies on strategic communications for investor and media relations, deal activity and in advance of fundraising efforts.
- Investor Relations: He has expertise in helping companies enhance their overall communications, including investor relations, long-term corporate positioning and internal and external communications. He has advised clients on financial guidance issues, management transitions, corporate strategy shifts and other critical announcements. He works closely with his clients to ensure that their corporate stories support and promote overall business objectives and are articulated clearly and consistently.
Trevor joined Joele Frank in January 2017 from Edelman, where he spent over six years, most recently as a senior vice president on the Financial Communications and Capital Markets team. Trevor began his career as a practicing attorney and was an associate in the capital markets group of Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, where he represented major Wall Street investment banks and financial institutions on structured products transactions and complex derivatives. He later became a member of the in-house legal team of Millennium Management, a multi-strategy hedge fund, where he worked on private placement and registered direct transactions as well as issues involving creditors’ rights, prime brokerage relationships, counter-party risk and investor relations.
He has an AB in international relations and a JD from Georgetown University. Trevor is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Harlem Prep Charter School.
