Tim provides strategic communications and investor relations counsel to companies and private equity firms engaged in transactions, reorganizations and other special situations, and in connection with ongoing corporate matters. His areas of expertise include:
- Mergers & Acquisitions: He advises companies on friendly and unsolicited transactions, contested mergers, as well as other special situations. Recent assignments include: Broadcom in its proposal to acquire Qualcomm; Honeywell in its spinoff of both its Homes product and Transportation Systems businesses; State National Companies in its sale to Markel Corporation; Blackstone and CF Corp. in the acquisition of Fidelity & Guaranty Life; INC Research in its merger with inVentiv Health; iflix on funding rounds from investors Hearst, Liberty Global, Sky, Zain, Catcha Group and Evolution Media Capital; DH Corporation in its sale to Vista Equity Partners; VCA in its sale to Mars; and Alere in its sale to Abbott Laboratories.
- Restructuring & Bankruptcy: He has advised companies in connection with both court-supervised and out-of-court restructurings. Recent assignments include: The Bon-Ton Stores, General Wireless (RadioShack) and Homer City.
- Crisis & Issues Management: He has developed and executed communications strategies to help senior management and boards of directors advance their business objectives and protect their companies’ reputations across a variety of situations, including shareholder activism, unplanned leadership changes, cybersecurity breaches, defense against short sellers and high-profile litigation.
- Investor & Public Relations: He works closely with senior management and outside financial and legal advisors to develop and enhance clients’ IR and PR programs, including quarterly earnings preparation, investor conferences and annual shareholder meetings.
Tim joined Joele Frank in 2016. He previously worked at Prosek Partners, where he advised clients across asset management, financial and professional services on strategic communications, and at the global law firm of Kirkland & Ellis LLP, where he supported firm management and senior partners on media relations and communications. Tim began his career as a reporter at local television stations in Michigan, Missouri and West Virginia.
Tim received an MS in finance from the University of Rochester’s Simon Business School, an MA in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a BA cum laude from Princeton University.
