Mary provides strategic communications counsel and assists companies in a broad range of special situations, including mergers and acquisitions, shareholder activism defense and proxy contests, and crisis management. Mergers & Acquisitions
She works with clients in both friendly and unsolicited M&A transactions. Notable assignments include: Symantec in its acquisition of Blue Coat Systems; Cabela’s in its sale to Bass Pro Shop; Thermo Fisher Scientific in its acquisition of Affymetrix; Fairchild Semiconductor in its sale to ON Semiconductor; and Symantec in its sale of Veritas to The Carlyle Group.
She has worked with many companies in both public and private activism situations and proxy contests opposite Corvex Management, Elliott Management, JANA Partners, Starboard Value, Icahn Enterprises and Third Point, among others.
Her assignments include data breaches, earnings surprises, litigation, patent disputes, management succession and unplanned leadership changes.
Investor Relations and Public Relations
She assists public companies in enhancing their overall communications strategy, including corporate positioning, quarterly earnings preparation and employee communications.
Mary joined the firm in 2015. She received a BA in Philosophy from the University of California, Berkeley.
