Jack provides strategic communications support for U.S. and international companies across industries and in a wide range of special situations, including transactions, shareholder activism, crises, and ongoing public and investor relations. His areas of expertise include:

Mergers & Acquisitions

He has worked with clients in both friendly and unsolicited M&A transactions. Notable experience includes working with: S&P Global on its combination with IHS Markit; Standard General in its proposed acquisition of TEGNA; Square (now Block) in its acquisition of AfterPay; Anadarko in its transaction with Occidental Petroleum; Blackstone on its acquisition of Home Partners of America and Bluerock Residential; Newmont Mining in its acquisition of Goldcorp and subsequent hostile takeover defense against Barrick Gold; Eastdil Secured, in partnership with Temasek and Guggenheim, on its management-led buyout; General Electric in its transaction to combine GE, Oil & Gas with Baker Hughes; Gilead Sciences in its acquisition of Kite Pharma; Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen in its sale to Restaurant Brands International; and BMC Stock Holdings in its combination with Builders FirstSource.

Real Assets

He provides REITs, asset managers and service providers in the real estate industry with strategic communications counsel related to M&A, shareholder activism and crises as well as ongoing public relations and investor communications. Current and former clients include American Homes 4 Rent, Americold Realty Trust, Blackstone, DigitalBridge, LivCor, Pennsylvania REIT, and the RMR Group.

Crisis Communications

He assists and advises companies facing a variety of crises and special situations, including reputational issues, defense against short-sellers, data breaches, earnings surprises, SEC investigations, regulatory actions, litigation, unplanned leadership changes, closures and workforce reductions. Most recently, he has helped companies address challenges brought on by COVID-19, including creating and adapting investor relations strategies and handling public relations issues on a national and regional level.

IPOs & Spin-offs

He has experience advising companies on initial public offerings, including Lyft and Luckin Coffee, as well as spin-off transactions, including DTE, EQT Corporation and Trinity Industries.

Shareholder Activism

His experience defending companies against activist investors includes: American Homes 4 Rent (Land & Buildings); AmTrust (Carl Icahn); Brookdale Senior Living (Land & Buildings); EQT Corporation (JANA Partners, D.E. Shaw, Kensico, the Rice Team); Janus Henderson Group (Trian Partners); Olin (Sachem Head); Papa John’s (John Schnatter); and Taubman Centers (Land & Buildings).

Jack joined Joele Frank in January 2016, having previously worked in the Analysis and Research division of Brunswick Group’s corporate headquarters in London. He received a BA in Business and Marketing Management from Oxford Brookes University in the U.K.
