During a career spanning New York and London, Tim has advised companies and individuals on communications strategy in a wide variety of transactions and corporate situations, with a particular focus on multinational companies and cross-border transactions. His areas of expertise include:

  • Shareholder Activism: He has helped dozens of companies engage with activist shareholders. Experience includes: Trinity Industries (ValueAct) Chico’s FAS (Barington), Select Comfort (Blue Clay), Ingram Micro (Atlantic), Brink’s, Aaron’s, LSB Industries (Starboard), ValueVision (Clinton Group), Juniper (Elliott Associates & Jana Partners), Emulex (Elliott Associates, Starboard & Altai), Chipotle, Target, Canadian Pacific, Ceridian (Pershing Square), Esterline (First Pacific & Relational), Mentor Graphics (Carl Icahn & Casablanca), Federal Signal (Warren Kanders), Biovail (Eugene Melnyk), VAALCO (Lone Star & Nanes Delorme), Captaris (Vector), Clear Channel (Fidelity & Highfields), and Patientline (Shore Capital).
  • Mergers & Acquisitions: He has advised U.S. and international companies across a wide range of different sectors on communications in both friendly and hostile transactions. Experience includes advising Parker Hannifin in its acquisition of Clarcor; Valspar in its agreement to be acquired by Sherwin-Williams; CBOE in its acquisition of Bats Global; Hershey in its response to the unsolicited acquisition proposal from Mondelez; Ingram Micro in its agreement to be acquired by Tianjin Tianhai, a subsidiary of HNA Group; Teva in its unsolicited proposal to acquire Mylan and in its acquisition of Allergan Generics; Men’s Wearhouse in its acquisition of Jos. A. Bank; and Ebix in its terminated acquisition by Goldman Sachs private equity. 
  • Investor Relations & Public Relations: He has developed and implemented communications plans to help companies present their strategy to the capital markets and keep their shareholders, regulators, employees, customers and other constituents informed.
  • Crisis Communications: He has provided strategic counsel and handled media relations for companies experiencing a wide range of crises, including government and regulatory investigations, management change, restructuring and workforce consolidation.

Tim joined Joele Frank in 2006. He previously served as a Consultant at Tulchan Communications, a capital markets consultancy based in London, England. Tim graduated from Edinburgh University with an MA (hons) in Classical Studies. He received a Graduate Diploma in Law from the College of Law, London.
