An expert in the field of executive compensation, Sydney brings a diverse background with experience in consulting, internal compensation design, and proxy advisory services. Prior to joining Joele Frank in 2018, Sydney served as a senior member of Institutional Shareholders Services’ compensation research group. During her time at ISS, she led a team of compensation analysts whose responsibilities included analyzing company pay practices, determining proxy vote recommendations, and developing and implementing voting policies, among other things. Previously, she served on the internal executive compensation team at Capital One Financial Services, as well as an executive compensation consultant. Her areas of expertise include:
- Executive Compensation and Governance Communication: Her years of proxy review and advisory services enable to her to provide unique insight into the views and voting policies of key stakeholders regarding executive pay practices. Given her deep understanding of the field, she is able to clearly and cogently convey complicated pay and governance practices to non-subject matter experts, ensuring understanding from shareholders and proxy advisors alike.
- Executive Pay Design and Regulatory Consideration: Having reviewed thousands of executive pay programs during her time at ISS, as well as designing and implementing numerous pay programs both internally and as a consultant, she has a comprehensive understanding of pay trends in various industries and markets. Additionally, she is knowledgeable regarding the shifting regulatory landscape as it affects pay and governance matters.
- Shareholder and Advisory Service Engagement: With several years of experience engaging with issuer board members and executives while at ISS, she has a well-developed understanding of shareholder engagement best practices.
Sydney received a BA in Mathematics from Oberlin College.
